Presenter

Jane Dika, MA, LPC, CAADC, CCS, NCC

Jane has over ten years of experience in the mental health field. She has worked in both residential and outpatient programs, has supervised clinicians, and has experience as a manager of outpatient programs. Jane is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She is a Certified Clinical Supervisor and supervises clinicians providing treatment for clients with substance use disorders.

Introduction to Boundaries in Treatment for Persons with Substance Use Disorders.

3 CE Hours MCBAP Approved (Related 3 hours Treatment Ethics)

GOAL:

Participates will be able to define boundaries and the importance of having boundaries in the therapeutic relationships. They will be able to differentiate between boundary crossing, boundary violations, dual relationships, multiple relations, non-sexual, and sexual boundary violations, as well as relate the importance of establishing healthy boundaries while working with clients with substance use disorders and other mental illness diagnosis.

SCHEDULE

  1. 6pm – 7:20pm: Defining boundaries, healthy therapy relationships and exploring the importance of having healthy boundaries in the clinical setting

    7:20pm – 7:35pm: Break

    7:35pm – 8:50pm: Differentiate between boundary crossing, boundary violations, dual relationships, multiple relations, non-sexual, and sexual boundary violations. Differentiate between healthy and unhealthy boundaries and identity obstacles in establishing healthy boundaries with clients suffering from substance use disorders

    8:50pm - 9pm: Questions and Feedback
