Clinical Assessment: Assessing Clients with Co-Occurring
Disorders

Goal:
Participants will develop an understanding of the purpose for
clinical assessments in treatment for clients with co-occurring
disorders, the skills for conducting assessments and utilizing the
information to conceptualize clients for the purpose of developing
a person-centered plan of treatment.
Objectives:

Identifying the purpose of the Clinical Assessment

Defining the role of the clinical assessment in the treatment
process for persons with co-occurring disorders
•
Developing rapport for the clinical assessment
•
Conceptualizing the client with the Psychosocial assessment
•
Identify strategies for navigating an agency assessment
•
Identify ways to avoid common errors in the assessment process
•
Interdisciplinary teams
•
Sample Report.
Schedule: (EST)
9am – 10:20: Identifying the purpose of the clinical
assessment and defining the role of the clinical assessment in the
treatment process for persons with co-occurring disorders
10:20am – 10:30am: Break
10:30am – 12pm: Developing rapport for
the purpose for conducting an assessment and identifying strategies
for navigating an agency assessment and strategies for navigating
an agency assessment.
12pm-1pm: Lunch
1pm – 2:20pm: Conceptualizing the client with
the psychosocial assessment
2:20pm – 2:30: Break
2:30pm – 3:50: Interdisciplinary teams and
review of a sample report
3:50pm – 4pm: Questions and feedback.
