Goal:
Participants will develop an understanding of opioid use disorders
and the history of opioid use in the United States, common
co-occurring disorders, and treatment approaches for working with
clients with opioid use disorders, and common co-occurring
disorders.
Objectives:
•
Identify commonly used forms of opioids
•
Summarize history of opioid use in the United States
•
Utilize DSM V criteria to assess individuals for Opioid Use
Disorders
•
Utilize the Bio-Psychosocial approach to assess individuals for
Opioid Use disorders
•
Summarize common co-occurring disorders for individuals with Opioid
Use Disorders
•
Identify evidence-based treatment approaches for individuals with
Opioid Use Disorders
•
Demonstrate knowledge of the use of medications for symptom
management for individuals with Opioid Use Disorders
•
Identify treatment considerations for persons with Opioid Use
Disorders.
Schedule:
8:30am – 9am: Registration
9am – 10:20am: Discussion of commonly
used forms of opioid and opioid use in the United States
10:20am – 10:35am: Break
10:30am – 12pm Overview DSM V criteria for
opioid use disorders, discussion of bio-psychosocial approach to
assess individuals for opioid use disorders
12pm – 1:00pm: Lunch
1:00pm – 2:20: Summary of common co-occurring
disorders for individuals with opioid use disorders, identify
evidence-based treatment approaches for individuals with opioid use
disorders
2:20pm – 2:35pm: Break
2:35pm – 3:50pm: Overview of the use of
medications for symptom management for individuals with opioid use
disorders, and treatment considerations for individuals with opioid
use disorders
3:50pm -4:00pm: – Questions and feedback
